Liz Proffetty

Liz moved to Maine to attend Maine College of Art (formerly Portland School of Art) in 1985, where she majored in both printmaking and ceramics.  Upon gradation she worked as a production potter  in a small pottery shop  in Damariscotta, Maine. The repetition suited her desire to improve her skills with clay, but over time she realized she loved passing that knowledge on to others too. She went back to school to become a teacher, earning certificates in both Elementary Education and K-12 Art. She has been teaching ceramics for 20 years in various settings from public schools, MudMobile Instructor for Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and from her home studio. She also continues making her own work and sells it at Neighborhood Clay and few selective shops and galleries.
